Why We Are Here
Whether you are an aspiring director or an artistic genius, chances are you’ve debated about going to art school. With no less than a dozen post secondary art schools in Vancouver alone, you are going to have to do some research.
The reality is that art schools, like any other schools, are businesses.
The reality is that art schools, like any other schools, are businesses. It’s the reason why Vancouver Film School teaches Classical Animation, VanArts has an acting program, and Simon Fraser University can offer degrees in Interactive Arts. These schools have a product to sell, and we’re all listening to the pitch.
Art School Reviews was created to help aspiring artists and designers find the program which suits them best. Speaking to school-specific advisors, reading testimonials, and browsing the student gallery only reflect a limited scope of the student experience.
What ASR aims to do is allow students and alumni to voice their opinions, concerns, support, or endorsements for the programs which they have entered. We provide a neutral platform for discussion which will help guide people where they need to go.
What We Do
Through the shared experiences of current students and alumni, we hope to provide our readers with the information they need to ultimately be successful in whatever educational endeavor they pursue.
Through the reviews, we can compel all art institutions to reflect on their students’ experiences.
It is also our hope that through the reviews, we can compel all art institutions to reflect on their students’ experiences, and ultimately, make Vancouver the quintessence of design, creativity, and innovation.
Because of the nature of ASR, we would like to mention that all readers should take into account that all reviews and articles are OPINIONS and not explicitly fact. They are based on the authors’ personal experiences and any critique or appraisal should be taken with a grain of salt.
Lastly, we would like to thank all the contributors who have made this all possible. Your unique experiences will help many finalize their decisions on which art schools to attend. For those of you out there just getting ready to go to art school, pack a sleeping bag, you’ll find out why soon enough.
Who We Are
Since the launch of Art School Reviews in 2009, the site is now being maintained by Frannie Wu (administrator), Michael Ngo (designer), and Jon Manzo (developer). Of course, we can’t forget about all of you.
