As a student from last year,I don't recommend going into Interactive Design program. The teacher teach you materials that could easily be learned online and the depth of all the courses are very shallow. The program is very basic and general, it doesn’t go very in depth on any of the topics. (coding or graphic design)
Like Stephen said, there are numerous courses that are very ineffective and useless. for example, students have to take a course called Contemporary Issues which is more like a debate class. It has nothing to do with web design whatsoever.
In my first term with Interactive Design, we had this “communication” class in which we learned absolutely nothing at all in this communication course.
After the first year I along with 4,5 other students have decided not to return to Interactive Design.

Hello Lars!
Thanks! I'm actually planning to apply at VCC for their Digital Design program. I'm currently maintaining a full time job and I wanna keep it - that way, if I don't get into ID, I can apply for ID again next year! (And you never know, we *might* be in the same cohort!)
As for the interview there was a group project as indicated on the website. Me and another person who attended the interview had to create a web design layout for a pet rescue organization - it's pretty basic in my opinion.

Hey, Kim! Any luck getting off that waiting list? I am also considering applying next year and such an increase in the popularity of the program makes wonder about my chances.

@Kim
Hey. When I applied, there was no waiting list. We were almost a full class though, short of 3-4 bodies.
But I've heard the program has gained a lot of attention since I've graduated. Interactive Design is doing an awesome job marketing it to the younger crowd, especially with the female crowd. I've kept in touch with some of the teachers there and it's becoming 50/50, males/females. Haha, when I was studying, we only had 3 females.
Anyway, so, it's no surprise to hear that they have a waiting list. The program only gets better every year.

Hi. I was just wondering; when you applied for the program, were you put on a waitlist? I just finished my interview on April 19, and in the last week of April they sent me a letter stating I was on the waitlist. Is this normal?
Thanks!
