Just as an outside viewer

If you want to make a career in the music industry it will be determined by your drive and desire to succeed. unless you have a famous parent, it will not be handed on a silver platter. You should be willing to spend countless hours learning and growing a skill set.

The main 3 things that are important when choosing a school is the knowledge and experience of your instructors, time you will be able to spend in the studio on you free time, and building a portfolio.
If you can not get those three out of a course i wouldn’t recommend it. If you are not eager to learn and use your free time working on your free time as a student I would say choose another career.

I DO NOT RECOMMENT PAVI AT ALL. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME FOR A BETTER SCHOOL. SUCH A WASTE OF TIME AND M0NEY. ONE EXAMPLE WAS OVER DUBBING AND MUSIC COMPOSITION CLASS. WE DIDN HAVE INSTRUCTOR FOR WHOLE SEMESTER AND THEY DIDN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS PRODUCTION CLASS. THEY NEVER WENT THROUGH PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE THEY AT ALL. THEY INSTRUCTOR WAS FULL OF HIMSELF. HE JUST ASKED US TO BUDGET A RECORD AT THE END. THAT S IT. MUSIC EDITING CLASS , THEY DIDN GO THROUGH PIANO AND VOCAL EDITING, THEY JUST SHOWED US HOW TO EDIT DRUM TO GRID AND FEW TOOLS IN PROTOOLS. THEY COMPUTER SYSTEMS ARE SO CRAPPY AND FULL OF VIRUS. THEY DON EVEN USE A REAL VERSION OF MAC OS. TOTALLY SUCH A WASTE OF TIME AND M0NEY GUYS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL AT ALL.

I’m very excited that I kept reading ALL of these comments so that I could find Nimbus…I’m from BC and was having no luck finding a solid school in BC and was going to have to move to Ontario to attend OIART which is SO expensive so thank you Condor Trey5 and Owen! :D

Nimbus is Ezrin’s school (mentioned by Condor above). It’s hard to think of any producers in Canada more wicked than Ezrin and GGGarth! I’m glad I found out about such an awesome place to learn and I’m really looking forward to starting there this fall.

pretty interesting thread…. PAVI is decent, but nothing exceptional i’d say. They changed the studio time to 24 hours while I was going there, which was a big help indeed for me to get my mixes done.. albeit very frustrating cause the first two terms i was still on the “10 hours a month” policy… what a crock. The studio there is magnificent though, and the people are cool! They leave you to work independently!!! I like it. Theres not much central air in the classrooms.. and no printers, its true. Still though, they try… and i got to work for Ken Burke which was a plus!

I am serching for schools and saw http://www.pavireviews.com. They have a lot of the same reviews their. What’s up with that?
