Hello! I wanted to respond to some of the comments above.
<br />
Matt: Yes, the API console is incredible...but of course that is the the audio department, and I never once used it. When I referred to the equipment, I was talking about the film equipment. Cameras/Lights/computers/etc.. At the time we were shooting on Panasonic AGDVC7...which are awful cameras. But im happy to hear from Elliot, that they have addressed the equipment concerns. I agree with you completely about taking you career in your own hands, meaning "its yours". I was one of the first year programs, and PAVI was still in the beginning stages and growing. I bet the school is very different know from what it was. Thanks.

Wow, if you think an API console is "modest equipment" then you really must've missed something. No other school I know of has one! I highly doubt your high school's gear list could compete with PAVI's. Anyway, school is usually designed for beginners - that's how we learn. I have a friend who attended PAVI and is now firmly planted in the Vancouver production scene. This reviewer may not have got what he wanted, but ALL schools should share the same motto as UBC: Tuum est, meaning: it's yours. The degree and courses are only guidelines. What you get out of it is up to you; how hard you study, what you challenge yourself with, will shape your education. Anyway, sounds like you're making it now, so...

I didn't read this review before going to PAVI. I don't know how accurate the information is any more. Yes the teachers are great but now we are shooting all HD on excellent equipment. I think the school should get a render farm. We have quadcore machines/8 gig ram but rendering is still slow. I really learned a lot from the cinematography course, more than I thought I would. It was a pretty tough course. I wish could take it again. I wouldn't say it's for beginners. Take this review with a grain of salt, I am getting my money's worth. Everyone is great. Go to PAVI. Again, I realize we have the fastest computers but RENDER FARM! Please.

The audio program doesn't get much funds either. Sure the studio is great but that was there before they started the school :P
