Ive noticed that the game design program at VFS has received many mixed reviews. Since the cost of education there is really expensive can someone tell me if there is a worthy return on investment on it? I mean how are initial salaries like if you secure a job immediately after graduation?

The foundation course at VFS is bullshit. Itès not worth the price you are paying. Itès a complete waste of money. You are better off practicing your art skills at home and doing all the work at home. VFS is too expensive.

Does anyone have input on the foundation program? Is it worth taking or should I just go straight into the game design program?
If anyone is to comment on this, please consider that I'm a computer engineer and have some 3DS studio knowleadge (so my art/design background is kind of lacking).

Wow, thank you so much for posting this review. I'm registered for this course for the coming year and you've definitely made me stop and think about whether or not it's right for me. I thought I'd done a lot of research before deciding to go for it but that obviously isn't the case. Thank you for the time and honesty that went into this.

I can't believe how well you just described exactly what I think as well when looking back.
"I would rather attribute that success to my amazing team mates, my mentors, and the game design staff."

As of now, I am no longer trying to become, a wizard at designing a game, and know how to do everything. I am now looking to better myself as both a PM, Scripter, Game Designer, and a Modeler.
And i do find myself now reading through lines of other peoples code, trying to decipher what it means, learn from how it is used how to generate my own code for use in our final game, or I spend the other half of my time, reading through tutorial books or watching tutorials online for 3d modeling for characters, or animation.

Tyree,
Now that you paid the tuition and set aside a year of your life to the program what are you looking to get out of it?
There have to be some students that you can collaborate with and learn from if the courses are not pushing you enough. If, for some bizarre reason you cannot gain any further tutelage from your classmates, then I would take this time as an opportunity to expand on the skills you want to bring to the industry.
Teachers are just one source of information at VFS. Studying with your fellow students, and good ol' self driven study are two avenues that you may want to pursue on your quest to become a game designer, whatever that title means to you . . .

As a current GD student, coming straight out of highschool.
I really wish i had seen this and the other article before i had dropped my 30 grand on this course, because so far the education it has given me has been a complete joke. With most of the stuff I had been 'taught' I either knew from the gaming/mod community already, or could have learned from googling UT3/3Ds Max tutorials. In these last few weeks as a few mentors have come in, I have probably learned as much, if not more than the entire 4 terms leading up to that moment...Thanks VFS.
